Bhubaneswar: Given the heatwave conditions prevailing in Odisha, the state government has announced summer vacation for schools and higher secondary schools from Thursday. However, the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education has issued a directive for conducting online coaching for NEET and JEE aspirants till 10 am except on Sundays and public holidays in addition to making good use of vacation time to continue academic programmes.

During the vacation, the class teacher will assign homework to the students to keep them engaged. If there is any doubt students can clear their doubts by contacting the teacher of the subject concerned or the Class teacher over the phone. Wherever necessary the Class teacher will discuss with students and parents. Teachers and staff will be on roster duty throughout the summer vacation. All details will be recorded in a special register. The office will be open from 6:30 am to 10:30 am for admissions purposes.

As general elections are ahead, the Directorate has instructed the Principals and staff of the higher secondary schools not to leave headquarters without the permission of higher authorities.
