Operation Anweshan-II: Police Rescue 5,451 Missing Persons Safely

Bhubaneswar: Police have taken the lead in safely rescuing missing children and women who were separated from their families and reuniting them with their families. Under the direction of State Director General of Police YB Khurania, Odisha Police conducted ‘Operation Anweshan-2’ campaign across the state from January 21 to Jan 30.

All the district and urban police of the state actively participated in this campaign and succeeded in safely rescuing a record number of 5451 missing persons. This includes 77 minor boys, 709 minor girls and 4665 women.

Puri district police rescued the maximum number of 613 missing persons, while Cuttack district rescued 501 and Bhadrak district rescued 429. Similarly, 413 missing persons have been safely rescued from Ganjam district, 346 from Kendrapara, 271 from Jajpur, 236 from Bargarh, 210 from Angul, 206 from Dhenkanal, 177 from Jagatsinghpur, 173 from Nuapada, 170 from Berhampur, 161 from Keonjhar, 135 from Sundargarh, 134 from Cuttack urban, 133 from Kalahandi, 127 from Nayagarh, 125 from Balasore, and 119 from Mayurbhanj.

The main objective of this campaign is to safely rescue missing children and women and reunite them with their families along with ensuring them the necessary facilities. This success has been possible due to the coordinated and proactive performance of the district police, railway police and urban police.

DGP Khurania praised all the officers and employees of Odisha Police for this success and informed that such campaigns will be intensified in the coming days for the protection and rescue of missing children and women.
