Bhubaneswar: As part of the statewide special enforcement drive Operation ‘Cyber Kavach’, Odisha Police has made significant progress in combating cybercrime, arresting 23 accused persons and registering 33 cases across multiple districts.
The operation, coordinated by Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, targeted mule bank accounts and cybercrime facilitators. Dedicated district cyber teams conducted verification drives and enforcement actions, verifying 357 mule bank accounts and serving 33 legal notices to suspected facilitators and account holders.
District-wise, Keonjhar verified 203 mule bank accounts and registered 6 cases, arresting 7 accused persons. Sambalpur verified 63 accounts, registered 8 cases, and arrested 13 persons. Other districts, including Puri, Boudh, Nabarangpur, Bargarh, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Rayagada, and Koraput, also reported significant actions.
These efforts are part of Odisha Police’s disruption-oriented strategy to dismantle mule banking networks and financial infrastructure supporting organised cyber fraud syndicates. Operation ‘Cyber Kavach’ continues to focus on identifying facilitators, neutralising fraudulent accounts, and preventing misuse of banking and telecom resources for cybercrime.
The Odisha Police reiterates its commitment to intelligence-led policing and coordinated action to protect citizens and strengthen the digital security ecosystem of the State.
