Bhubaneswar: In view of the upcoming festive season, Odisha Police is launching a special operation ‘Daman’ to maintain law and order and take strict action against criminals and anti-social elements.
The campaign will run from September 21 to 30 across the state. During the drive, strict vigil will be kept on the movements of criminals and anti-social elements. Police will take preventive legal steps along with execution of non-bailable arrest warrants. Special emphasis will be given to cracking down on illegal activities and making arrests.
Police said special vigil will be kept on illegal liquor trade, drug trafficking, illegal arms and explosives trade. Strict legal action will also be taken against extortion and organised crime.
Blocking and sealing of borders will be done in border areas to prevent movement of criminals.
The District Police, Railway Police, Commissionerate Police and concerned police units will implement the campaign in coordination with each other. Odisha Police said it will continue its efforts to ensure the safety of people and maintain a peaceful environment during the festival and to control crime
