Bhubaneswar: The Jharsuguda police have arrested three persons involved in extortion and intimidation on Tuesday as part of ‘Operation Netra’.
The accused, identified as Munnu Pandey, Abhinandan Pandey, and Kamelesh Sha, were arrested for allegedly threatening local hotel owners and truck drivers at gunpoint in a bid to extort them near Panchpada Chowk on SH-10.
According to reports, the police received credible information about the group’s activities and immediately proceeded to the spot. The accused were caught, and deadly weapons and other articles were seized from their possession. A case has been registered at Jharsuguda police station under various sections of the BNS and Arms Act.
The seized items include two mobile phones, one country-made pistol, three live ammunition, one Hero motorcycle without a number plate, and cash of Rs. 4680. The accused will be produced in court today, and the investigation is underway.
The Operation Netra aims to curb anti-social activities and maintain law and order in the region.
