Bhubaneswar: The second day of the Odisha Legislative Assembly’s Budget Session was a stormy one, with Opposition members disrupting proceedings over alleged paddy procurement irregularities, leading to the House being adjourned till 4 pm.
The protest saw members from the BJD and Congress party raising slogans and placing paddy bundles on the reporters’ table, demanding action on the issue.
Opposition members stormed the Odisha Assembly’s Well, protesting alleged paddy procurement mismanagement. BJD and Congress MLAs carried paddy bundles into the House, placing some on the reporters’ table, demanding action on procurement delays and farmer grievances.
The Assembly session turned chaotic as Opposition members refused to back down, despite Speaker Surama Padhy’s appeals for order. The House was adjourned twice – first till 11:30 am, and then till 4 pm – as BJD and Congress MLAs continued to protest alleged paddy procurement irregularities.
