Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued an Orange warning for Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, forecasting moderate rain at many places in the twin cities over the next 3 hours.
According to the nowcast warning issued at 8 am today, moderate rainfall is very likely to occur in several areas of the capital city and the Millennium City.
With the monsoon active over Odisha, the IMD has urged residents to take precautions amid the rain and thunderstorm activity.
IMD has urged people to stay updated with official weather forecasts and carry an umbrella or raincoat while stepping out. It advised avoiding unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall and asked citizens not to walk or drive through waterlogged roads as the depth and current may be difficult to judge.
The Met department also cautioned against taking shelter under trees or near electric poles during thunderstorms, and recommended keeping electronic devices and electrical appliances away from water while immediately reporting any fallen power lines. People have been asked to wear waterproof footwear to reduce the risk of slips and infections.
