Orissa HC Rules Out Irregularities In ASO Selection Process By OPSC

Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court on Friday ruled out any irregularity in the selection process to shortlist candidates for recruitment of Assistant Section Officer (ASO) and directed the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) to continue with the selection process.

The High Court also upheld the merit list of the 1,104 candidates published by the OPSC.

It is worth mentioning here that the OPSC conducted the recruitment examination for the ASO post on August 27, 2022, and published the results on November 7, 2022.

Unsatisfied with the selection process, some candidates moved the Orissa High Court claiming irregularities in the process adopted by the OPSC to prepare the merit list. The candidates were dissatisfied with the ‘qualification mark rule’ of the OPSC while processing the merit list. As per the ‘qualification mark rule, the candidates needed to secure a minimum score in each subject.

Candidates whose names did not appear in the merit list alleged the OPSC did not mention the new qualifying mark rule in its initial advertisement but introduced the new rule after the written examination had concluded.
