Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court has sought detailed affidavits from Odisha government and Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) over candidates who allegedly missed Odisha Civil Services (OCS) Main Examination held on October 31 due to Cyclone Arnab and subsequent flash floods.
The court directed the State, through Chief Secretary, to file affidavit furnishing details of districts affected by Cyclone Arnab and resultant flash floods, period of affect, extent of disruption to road, rail and other public transport during exam dates, whether any affected district was declared calamity-affected, and reports received from Collectors on disruption to movement of people.
OPSC has been asked to provide centre-wise and date-wise attendance data, including details of candidates from affected districts who remained absent.
The court also asked State and OPSC to explore feasibility of conducting a special examination for eligible candidates who were genuinely prevented from appearing despite willingness.
The court directed both to apprise on measures that may be feasibly adopted to afford opportunity to such candidates. The matter will be heard next on November 6.
