Bhubaneswar: The three-year-long legal battle over the marital discord between Ollywood star-turned-politician and his actress wife Varsha Priyadarshini came to an end after Orissa High Court on Thursday allowed separation on the ground of ‘non-consumation of marriage’.
“Our main point i.e non-consummation which was rejected by the family court, was accepted by the High Court. The court analyzed the evidence of both the parties and pronounced the judgment that both should get divorced,” Anubhav’s lawyer Lalitendu Mishra said.
The divorce petition was earlier dismissed by the lower court.
Earlier in September, the Cuttack family court had rejected Anubhav’s divorce petition against Varsha.
A petition filed by the actress praying for restitution of conjugal rights was also dismissed by the court simultaneously.
The celebrity couple got married in 2014 in a grand ceremony in a star hotel in Bhubaneswar. In 2020, the actor-turned MP Anubhav Mohanty filed a divorce petition in a Delhi court alleging there was no physical relationship between them even after six years of marriage.
The matter was shifted to family court in Cuttack after Varsha moved Supreme Court seeking transfer of the case.
The actress had also filed a domestic violence case against her husband in a court in Cuttack in August 2020.
