Cuttack: A division bench of the Orissa High Court today upheld its earlier decision by a single-judge bench for regularisation of jobs of contractual data entry operators.

The division bench dismissed a petition of the State government challenging the earlier order of the single-judge bench in the matter.

A single-judge bench of the High Court had directed the State government for regularising the jobs of the contractual data entry operators engaged at Lok Seba Bhawan, Directorate of Local Fund Audit, Gopabandhu Academy, Sub Registrar offices on an outsourcing basis within three months with all consequential service and financial benefits who had completed six years of service.

“A resolution was issued by the State Government’s General Administration department on September 17, 2013, as per which contractual employees after completing six years shall be deemed to have been appointed on regular basis and a formal order of regular appointment shall be issued by the appointing authority. Initially, we approached a single-judge bench of the High Court. The single-judge bench had ordered for their regularisation. The State government had challenged the single-judge bench’s order before a division bench. The State government’s petition challenging the single-judge bench’s order was dismissed today,” informed Atul Tripathy, petitioner’s counsel.

Our prayer was for regularisation of service with consequential and service benefits, Tripathy added.

He said as a consequence of this a total of 600 persons ill be regularised directly adding that they will get the benefits retrospectively with effect from 2014.
