Bhubaneswar: A special skill development workshop on mango cultivation was successfully organized by the Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS) at the MGNREGA Conference Hall of the SIRD Campus in Bhubaneswar.

Farmers and agriculture officials from 15 major mango-producing districts of Odisha participated in the workshop.  The session focused on safe harvesting practices and strategies to earn higher profits through mango exports. Participants were trained in scientific harvesting and efficient post-harvest management of mangoes.

Special emphasis was placed on maintaining fruit quality, grading, packaging, cold chain management, and market connectivity. Experts also suggested ways to utilize export opportunities to increase demand for Odisha’s mangoes in the international market.

Speaking about the workshop, ORMAS Additional CEO (Finance) Sanjiv Kumar Singh said the training would help farmers gain proper knowledge on taking their mangoes to foreign markets.

Additional CEO (Administration) Gitanjali Behera said that with proper care, mangoes will not spoil prematurely and farmers’ income will increase.  The participating farmer organizations appreciated the workshop as a welcome initiative by ORMAS.
