Bhubaneswar: In a significant initiative to showcase Odisha’s rich handloom and handicraft traditions at the national level, the Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS), under the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department has established its first-ever ORMAS Pop-up Store in New Delhi.

The ORMAS Pop-up Store has been set up at DLF Avenue, Saket, New Delhi, and will remain operational for one month, from 11 August to 10 September 2026. The initiative aims to provide a prominent platform for Odisha’s distinctive handloom and handicraft products, while connecting the State’s rural producers with consumers in the national capital.

The pop-up store was formally inaugurated on the evening of 11 August 2026 at DLF Avenue, Saket, by the Minister, Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department, Rabi Narayan Naik. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Girish S.N., Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department, Monica Priyadarshini, CEO, ORMAS, senior officials of the Department and other distinguished guests.

The special pop-up store showcases over 30 renowned handloom and handicraft products from 14 districts of Odisha for display and sale. The collection includes a wide range of Odisha’s celebrated handloom products such as Sambalpuri Ikat Sarees, Sambalpuri Silk Sarees, Kotpad Sarees, Pattachitra Sarees, Habaspuri Sarees, Habaspuri Silk Sarees, Tussar Sarees, Tussar Silk Sarees and Khandua Pata Sarees. The store also features traditional Sambalpuri jewellery, Dhokrajewellery and several other products reflecting the diverse craftsmanship and artistic traditions of different regions of Odisha.

The initiative creates an opportunity to establish direct market linkages between the State’s weavers, artisans and Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) and consumers in Delhi. This is expected to expand their market reach, enhance brand visibility and support the growth of their businesses and livelihoods.

The establishment of the ORMAS Pop-up Store in New Delhi marks an important step towards taking Odisha’s rich handloom and handicraft traditions to a wider national audience. By creating a dedicated platform in a major urban market, the initiative seeks to provide greater visibility and market access to the State’s rural producers, weavers and artisans.

Through such market-led initiatives, ORMAS continues to facilitate sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural communities while promoting Odisha’s distinctive craftsmanship and cultural heritage across wider markets.
