Kendrapara: Doctors affiliated with the Odisha Medical Services Association (OSMA) in Odisha’s Kendrapara district have launched a non-cooperation strike on Friday morning against the police to protest against the police inaction in arresting the miscreants who ransacked the Rajnagar Community Health Center (CHC) and misbehaved with doctors and female medical staff on duty there on November 29 night.
More than 140 doctors are participating in the protest and they are determined not to participate in any government or police programmes or treat patients brought by the police.
Addressing a press meet, Dr Sanjeev Kumar Shetty of OSMA Rajnagar branch said that from today the doctors will not issue any injury report of the accused to the police or undertake post-mortem work. “We will not cooperate with the police until our demands are met,” Dr Shetty said.
As a result, police are finding it hard to produce the accused in the district to court.
However, the doctors have not stopped treating patients. They are wearing black ribbons as a mark of protest.
The Rajnagar OSMA has threatened to go on a complete strike if their demands are not met by the police within seven days. The doctors demanded the arrest of all the six accused, including Muna Pal and Debasis Rout, who came to the hospital and threatened the doctors on November 29 night.
