Bhubaneswar: The Government of Odisha has enabled online payment under the One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme for pending traffic e-challans, ensuring greater convenience for citizens.
Earlier, the OTS scheme—announced for settlement of pending e-challans under 17 sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988—has now been extended to 24 sections with the inclusion of seven more. Under this scheme, all e-challans issued on or before 31st July 2025 can be paid with up to 50% relaxation in the penalty amount.
Citizens can now settle their pending e-challans from the comfort of their homes by visiting the official portal: https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in/. By selecting the ‘Pay Online’ option and entering their challan number or vehicle registration number, users can view their pending challans and proceed to make payments online.
Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena informed that the initiative will help lakhs of vehicle owners clear their dues easily and avoid future legal action under the Motor Vehicles Act. “The department has simplified the process to ensure that people need not visit RTOs for payment. They can now complete the entire process online,” the Minister said.
He further cautioned citizens to make payments only through the official Transport Department website and remain alert against cyber frauds.
The 24 sections covered under this scheme include violations such as driving without a helmet, without a seatbelt, without a driving licence, or without insurance.
