Bhubaneswar: A total of 1,57,432 Bangladeshi refugees are residing in Odisha, informed Minister of State (MoS) for Home, Tusharkanti Behera in the State Assembly today.
Replying to a query by BJP member from Dhamnagar Suryabanshi Suraj, Behera said that out of the total 1,57,432 Bangladeshi refugees residing in the State, the highest number of 1,04,233 reside in Malkangiri district, 46,848 in Nabarangpur district, 4,653 in Khordha district, 441 in Kendrapara district, 379 in Jajpur district, 304 in Rayagada district, 200 in Bhadrak district, 90 in Kalahandi, 75 in Balasore and 15 in Angul.
That apart, a total of 3,740 Bangladeshi infiltrators are illegally residing in Odisha which includes 1,649 in Kendrapara, 1,112 in Jagatsingpur district, 655 in Malkangiri district, 199 in Bhadrak district, 106 in Nabarangpur, 17 in Khordha district (Bhubaneswar), Behera added.
