Bhubaneswar: Odisha has seen a massive response to Kharif paddy registration with more than 1 lakh farmers enrolling in a single day. According to the Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Department, over 7.18 lakh farmers across the state have registered so far for the Kharif paddy harvesting and marketing season 2026-27.
The registration drive began on August 6 and will continue till August 31.Officials said farmers are registering enthusiastically at Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies, Large Area Multipurpose Cooperative Societies and Pani Panchayats. The process is currently underway in 2,912 PACS and 4 Pani Panchayats across the state.
District-wise, Bargarh has recorded the highest registrations with around 75,000 farmers, followed by Balasore with 50,000. Kalahandi and Ganjam have registered about 49,000 farmers each, while Bolangir has seen around 31,000 registrations.
The registration is being carried out jointly by the Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Department, Cooperation Department, Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department and Revenue and Disaster Management Department.
