Bhubaneswar: Around 20 passengers were injured after a bus lost control and overturned on the roadside in Nayagada district today. The accident took place near Pandusar when the passenger bus ‘Omm Chakadola’ was traveling from Daringbadi to Bhubaneswar with about 40 passengers on board.
According to reports, the bus lost its balance and overturned while trying to avoid two bike riders coming from the opposite side. The driver said the mishap occurred while he was trying to save the bikers.
Of the injured, the condition of three people is said to be critical. They have been shifted to Bhubaneswar for treatment. The other injured passengers have been admitted to the Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital.
Police and locals rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. All the injured were evacuated from the bus and sent to hospital.
Police have started an investigation into the incident to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
