Bhubaneswar: More than 30 tourists were seriously injured after a tourist bus met with an accident near Bhudurubani on the Udala-Nilagiri road In Baleshwar district on Thursday.
According to reports, the bus was carrying over 60 tourists from West Bengal. The tourists had visited Devakunda near Udala in Mayurbhanj and were on their way to Panchalingeshwar in Nilagiri, Balasore district.
The bus reportedly lost control at Bhudurubani near Chhatrapur and overturned on the roadside. More than 60 passengers sustained injuries, with over 30 said to be in serious condition.
On receiving information, Barhampur police, fire brigade personnel from Nilagiri and locals launched a rescue operation and shifted the injured to Barhampur hospital. The critically injured were later shifted to Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital in Balasore.
Rescue operations are still underway as some passengers are feared trapped under the overturned bus.
