Bhubaneswar: Odisha faces a significant shortage of medical professionals, with 1,054 teaching and doctor posts vacant in government medical colleges and 5,175 doctor positions vacant in district headquarters hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
This was revealed by Health & Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling in the Odisha Assembly on Monday.
Responding to a query from BJD MLA Ganeswar Behera, the Minister stated that the state is addressing the vacancies through regular recruitment by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC), departmental promotions, deputation, and contractual appointments.
