Bhubaneswar: A total of 63,518 graduate candidates and 1,269 postgraduate candidates have applied for Home Guard recruitment across Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the State Assembly on Monday. The minimum educational qualification required for the post is fifth standard, and the position carries a daily allowance of Rs 623.
In a written reply to a question by Congress leader and Bhawanipatna MLA Sagar Charan Das, the Chief Minister provided a district-wise breakdown of applicants. Among postgraduate candidates, Mayurbhanj recorded 161 applicants, Balasore 113, Sambalpur 58, Rayagada 52, Keonjhar 76, and Bargarh 61. Graduate applicants included 6,206 in Mayurbhanj, 4,224 in Puri, 3,045 in Cuttack-R, 2,889 in Balasore, 2,426 in Bhadrak, and 2,012 in Sambalpur.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that a total of 4,924 Home Guard vacancies had been announced across districts, and 2,20,335 candidates applied for these positions.
For example, Boudh district had 19 vacancies, with 2,202 candidates applied. Balasore reported 197 vacancies, with 9,292 candidates applied; Keonjhar 330 vacancies, with 13,030 candidates applied; Mayurbhanj 280 vacancies, with 24,709 candidates applied; Rourkela 120 vacancies, with 9,418 candidates applied; and Sambalpur 183 vacancies, with 10,340 candidates applied.
The Chief Minister assured that necessary measures are being taken to ensure the examinations are conducted in an orderly, transparent, and safe manner.
