Bhubaneswar: A whopping 91.54% of the daily count of Covid-19 cases in the city is local contact cases.
As many as 584 cases out of the total 638 new Covid-19 cases detected in the city in the last 24 hours (till 9 AM of Jan 7) are local contact cases according to data shared by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). The remaining 54 cases are quarantine cases.
The daily count of new Covid-19 cases in the city registered a 59.50% spike over the previous day.
The city has 1,887 active cases of Covid-19 and the cumulative total of Covid cases in the city reached 1,25,492.
A total of 94 persons have recovered from Covid-19 in the city during the last 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to 1,22,481.
No new fatalities have been reported/confirmed from the city, the cumulative total of fatalities due to Covid stood at 1103.
The highest number of new local contact cases were reported from Patia (60), Old Town (29), Patrapada (21), and Nayapalli (20).
