Bhubaneswar: As many as 98,348 posts are lying vacant in various departments of the Odisha government as of January 31, 2024.
This was informed by Minister of State for Skill Development and Technical Education Pritiranjan Gharai in the Odisha Assembly on Tuesday in reply to a query from BJP member Mukesh Mahaling.
According to the data shared by the Minister on the breakup of vacancies in the various departments, the Health & Family Welfare department has the highest number of vacancies-26,815 followed by the School and Mass Education Department which has 21,814 vacancies, the Home Department 7,315 and the Revenue & Disaster Management with 5,892 vacancies.
In reply to another query from Mahaling, Gharai said that as of now the State government has no proposal to increase the upper age limit for government jobs to 42 years.
