Balasore Village

Balasore: Over Rs 21 lakh, which had been stolen by an employee of a Hyderabad-based company, was recovered from the backyard of a house at Badamandurini village under Kamarda police limits in Balasore district, on Saturday.

The employee has been identified as Gopal Behera, a resident of Badamandurini village in the Jaleswar area of Balasore.

According to reports, Gopal, who had been working at an agro-industry in Hyderabad for around ten years, knew the secret code to a company locker. From there, he stole the money and he then handed the cash to his brother-in-law, who passed it on to his parents in Jaleswar before returning to Hyderabad.

While investigating the theft, Hyderabad police, with assistance from Kamarda police, launched a search operation and raided Badamandurini village. They successfully recovered bundles of cash that had been buried in the backyard of Gopal’s house.

While Gopal remains on the run, his brother-in-law Rabindra and his mother-in-law have been detained for questioning. As of the latest reports, about Rs 15 lakh of the stolen money has been recovered. The investigation is still in progress and a manhunt is on to nab Gopal.
