Sambalpur: A bag containing over Rs 30 lakh that had been stolen from a hotel in Sambalpur was found buried at a place in Deogarh district. Sambalpur Police have recovered the bag and arrested the main accused.
The accused identified as Rakesh was an employee of Hotel Sheela Towers situated at VSS Marg in Sambalpur. He had stolen over Rs 30 lakh from the cash counter of the hotel on April 15. A complaint in this regard had been lodged at Dhanupali Police Station.
During the investigation, police found that after the theft, Rakesh had fled to Deogarh and had buried the money. A team comprising Additional SP Tapan Mohanty, SDPO Pradeep Sahu, and Dhanupali Police Station IIC Anita Pradhan visited Deogarh and recovered the money with the help of Reamal Police.
Police also arrested Rakesh and the investigation is underway to find out the involvement of more persons in the incident.
