Bhubaneswar: More than 10.70 lakh farmers from Odisha have benifitted by the paddy procurement carried out during the ongoing Kharif Marketing Season (KMS). According to the data released by the Union Government, as many as 10,70,693 farmers from the State have reaped the benefits of paddy procurement during KMS 2021-22.
Odisha stands second in terms of farmers benefitted by the paddy procurement process, behind Chattisgarh which topped the list with little more than 21.05 lakh beneficiaries. Third in the list was Telengana where 10.62 lakh farmers got direct benefits of the ongoing paddy procurement process.
Till February 20 (Sunday), more than 695.67 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was procured as a part of KMS 2021-22 at minimum support price (MSP), the Government data revealed.
Overall, 94.15 lakh farmers have benefitted with MSP value of Rs 1,36,350.74 crore from across Odisha, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Assam, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Rajasthan, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal, Tripura, Bihar, Maharashtra, Pudducherry, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
