Nuapada: Vigilance officials today arrested one Jitendra Pattnaik, Junior Engineer(JE), Electrical, Padmapur Section in Rayagada district for taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant in order to restore disrupted electric supply to his Lift Irrigation (LI) point.
Pattnaik was caught in a trap laid by Vigilance officials on the basis of the complaint. He was caught while he was demanding and accepting the bribe amount at his rented house at Padmapur.
The entire bribe money was recovered from Pattnaik and seized in presence of witnesses. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house of Pattnaik at Padmapur, Rayagada and his ancestral house at Hillpatna area of Berhampur in Ganjam district.
The accused has been arrested and will be forwarded to court.
The Vigilance has registered a case against accused Pattnaik under section 7 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 and is under investigation.
