Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal has extended its full cooperation to the Central Government in all its efforts concerning the national security of the country.
BJD MP Sasmit Patra, who attended the all-party meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh over the Pahalgam terror attack, condemned the inhuman and cowardly act in the strongest possible terms.
“We urge the Government to take all necessary steps to ensure that the perpetrators of this gruesome attack are brought to justice. The BJD reaffirms its full cooperation and support with the Government in all its efforts concerning the national security of the nation,” Patra stated.
The MP posted on ‘X’ that BJD president Naveen Patnaik has conveyed deep sorrow, condolences, and solidarity with the families affected by the Pahalgam terror attack. Twenty-six people died on Sunday afternoon as terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba opened fire on a group of tourists in the scenic meadows of Baisaran, often dubbed “mini Switzerland”. Many were injured. The deceased tourists included one from Odisha’s Balasore, Prashant Satpathy, who was on vacation to Pahalgam with his family. Among others, one was a Nepali national. The rest came from 14 states across India.
India has taken a firm stance in response to recent events, initiating several non-military measures against Pakistan. These measures include an indefinite suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, the closure of the Attari border, and the revocation of visas for all Pakistani nationals currently in India. The government has also cancelled all visas, including medical visas, for Pakistani nationals in India, effective Sunday.
