Bhubaneswar: Pakhala, the traditional Odia dish, is truly soothing for the body and mind, which Pakhala is very beneficial for our summer climate, so our Odias have had a close relationship with Pakhala since time immemorial, said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
In a post on ‘X’, the Chief Minister said, Pakhala is the most favourite food of every Odia. Pakhala is the pulse of Odia soul and spirit. On the occasion of Pakhala Divas, the ministers and legislators all came together to enjoy the traditional dish. World Pakhala Divas is celebrated on March 20th every year.
There has been enthusiasm for this from village to city. Since it is a festival of food, Odia people have prepared dishes in their own style considering their economic status and have eaten today’s lunch, Majhi stated.
Different sections of society have joined hands on Pakhala Divas. The Chief Minister said, there is no alternative to Pakhala in Odia food culture.
“Our revered deity Lord Jagannath also enjoys Pakhala. In fact, our Odia soul has been intertwined with our history and social coexistence for ages with this Pakhala. We will continue to believe that our Odia community, which is moving forward with a pure mind can take pride in Pakhala and demonstrate the greatness of Odias,” he added.
It is worth noting that along with the Chief Minister, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Naik, Speaker Surama Padhy, and other ministers of the state cabinet also relished the traditional cuisine with multiple side dishes.
