Bhubaneswar: The Panchayati Raj Department today reviewed preparations for Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, with Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Rabi Narayan Naik emphasising the need to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left behind in accessing government schemes and services. The meeting reviewed preparations for Seva Setu, the mega plantation drive under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ and Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, with emphasis on coordinated action and public participation at the grassroots level.
The meeting focused on taking these programmes to the block and Gram Panchayat levels through coordinated planning, effective field-level implementation and active public participation.
Minister Naik briefed the field officials on the proposed Seva Setu activities, with emphasis on identifying eligible beneficiaries and connecting them with various State and Central Government schemes and services. He stressed the need to prepare block-wise programme calendars and a beneficiary data bank to facilitate the identification and enrolment of eligible people through the camps and programmes.
Preparations for a mega plantation drive under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ were also reviewed. Officials were asked to make necessary arrangements for sapling availability and plantation activities at the grassroots level, while ensuring greater participation from the community.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, to be observed from September 17 to October 2. Officials were asked to undertake cleanliness activities in public places across rural areas and ensure active participation of Gram Panchayats, local organisations and the general public. Plans for the inauguration of 25 drinking water projects during the campaign period were also discussed.
CDOs and BDOs from Sambalpur and Malkangiri shared their ground-level preparedness and suggestions during the meeting. Officials and field functionaries were directed to undertake extensive awareness at the block and Gram Panchayat levels about the programmes.
Naik joined the meeting through video conference from Kuchinda, Sambalpur. Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department, Girish S.N.; Director, Special Projects, Sidharth Shankar Swain; Director, Drinking Water, Vineet Bharadwaj; and other senior officials of the Department, along with CDOs and BDOs from across the State, attended the meeting.
