Bhubaneswar: Tension gripped Pathara Gadia village on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar after bombs were allegedly hurled during a clash between two rival groups late Wednesday night, leaving one person injured.
According to police, more than 15 miscreants barged into the village and lobbed crude bombs, reportedly due to old enmity, sending villagers into panic. Angry residents retaliated, leading to a violent confrontation between the two sides.
One person was injured in the assault during the clash. The attackers fled the scene leaving behind several unexploded bombs, locals said.
Apprehending further flare-up, police have deployed adequate personnel in the village. A Zonal ACP and IICs of two police stations are present on the spot to maintain law and order.
Police said preliminary investigation suggests the incident stemmed from a long-standing rivalry. Efforts are on to identify and nab the accused.
