Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested Ratnesh Kumar Pandey, Junior Engineer (JE) of Pattamundai Block in Kendrapara district, for embezzling government funds without executing the work.
According to sources, Pandey is accused of misappropriating funds allocated for the ‘Electrification Project of Street lights’ in Pattamundai Block during the financial year 2023-24.
During an investigation by the Odisha Vigilance, Pandey was found to have misappropriated GP Developmental Funds. The investigation revealed that he had transferred the funds to his personal bank account with SBI, Pipili branch.
The vigilance team has gathered evidence of Rs 9.70 lakh being transferred to his account, and further investigation is underway to ascertain more evidence of misappropriation.
A case has been registered against Pandey under relevant sections of the PC Act and IPC.
The accused has been forwarded to the court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack, for further proceedings. The investigation is ongoing.
