Jharsuguda: People of Brajrajnagar voted for me because of the work of my husband during his tenure as MLA for around 2.5 years, said BJD candidate Alka Mohanty who won the by-election to Brajrajnagar assembly seat in Jharsuguda district.
Alka thanked BJD supremo-cum-Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for nominating her as she was able to see this day.
She appreciated the efforts of the party workers who had worked hard under the sun and also thanked the people of Brajrajnagar for being with her and choosing the right candidate through their votes.
Her motto will be total development of Brajrajnagar, said Alka.
While confirming that the popularity of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has an impact on her votes, Alka said, “My husband had won the Brajrajnagar assembly seat for the first time, even though being a new face. People came to know about him and his work during his tenure as MLA for around 2.5 years. It is because of his work, people voted for me.”
While thanking the voters, she said, “I am for them and they are for me.”
Alka is the wife of late Brajrajnagar MLA Kishore Kumar Mohanty, whose demise necessitated the by-poll.
