Bhubaneswar: A day after the first phase election in Odisha, ruling BJD and BJP have claimed majority in both Lok Sabha and Assembly seats.

5T chairman and BJD leader Karthik Pandian said that his party emerged victorious in 24 seats in the first phase poll.

“With the blessings of Mahaprabhu Jagannath and people of Odisha, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is going to win 24 out of 28 Assembly seat in the first phase election on May 13. Due to the popularity of CM Naveen Patnaik and his welfare activities, the BJD will perform better,” Pandian said.

Similarly, BJP’s poll in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar claimed that his party will win four Lok Sabha seats and 18 Assembly constituencies out of 28.

“We are coming with a clear mandate. Out of 28 Assembly seats, we are winning in 18. We will capture all four Lok Sabha seats,” Tomar said.

The first phase of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha concluded peacefully on Monday barring a few violent incidents. The State recorded 73.97 percent voter turnout in the first phase.

The fate of 280 candidates including four Lok Sabha seats and 28 assembly seats is now sealed in the EVM.
