PhD Scholar Killed, Another Critically Injured In Scooter Accident At IIT-Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A PhD scholar was killed and another critically injured after their scooter hit a median on the IIT-Bhubaneswar campus late Monday night.

According to reports, the accident occurred around 11:20 pm when the rider lost control near a turn and collided with the median. A nearby security patrol found the rider badly injured on the road, while the pillion rider was conscious and lying on the pavement.

Both students were immediately rushed to the institute’s Sanjeevan Hospital. After initial treatment and CPR, they were referred to a private hospital.

The severely injured student was pronounced dead upon arrival, while the pillion rider is reported to be in stable condition in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
