Bhubaneswar: A physically challenged woman was allegedly raped in the Brahmagiri police station limits of Puri district on Friday night.
According to reports, a middle-aged man forcibly entered the woman’s house when other family members were away and sexually assaulted her. The victim’s family later lodged a complaint at the local police station, following which the police detained the accused.
The survivor has undergone a medical examination and the police said further legal procedures were underway.
Meanwhile, BJD leader Sanjay Das Burma demanded stringent punishment for the accused and urged the authorities to ensure a swift and impartial investigation.
