Bhubaneswar: In a pioneering initiative to strengthen environmental education among children, Sambhav has launched a first-of-its-kind E-book on Survival and Sustainability for school students, following the successful completion of Odisha’s first-ever Olympiad on Survival and Sustainability in Bhubaneswar.
The Olympiad was organized at DAV Public School, Unit-8 Campus, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 147 students representing Odia- and English-medium schools from the Twin Cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
The newly released E-book, titled “Info-Action Picture Book,” is available in both Odia and English and has been specially designed as an interactive learning resource for school children. Going beyond a conventional question-answer key, the E-book combines conceptual learning with practical action by providing correct answers, interesting environmental insights, and activity-based suggestions aimed at promoting critical thinking and reducing screen dependency.
The winners of the Olympiad have been felicitated with certificates and trophies during the 5th Memorial Program of Padma Prof Radhamohan.
In a major encouragement for young learners, each winner will also receive an Experiential Learning Fellowship worth ₹10,000. The fellowship aims to provide direct exposure to nature and sustainability practices, enabling students to translate classroom learning into real-world action.
Speaking on the occasion, Sabarmatee noted environmentalist and Padma Shri awardee, said the initiative is designed to inspire children to become active environmental stewards rather than passive learners. She emphasized that the future demands young minds capable of thinking critically, surviving wisely, and protecting the planet responsibly.
The E-book will be circulated among schools across Odisha to help children develop a deeper understanding of ecology, environment, and sustainability, said Tushar and Prapti, the volunteers behind the efforts.
Through this initiative, Sambhav aims to nurture a generation of environmentally conscious children equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to address future survival and sustainability challenges.
