Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Odisha on a day trip scheduled for September 17, according to official sources.
Modi is scheduled to arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport here at 11:35 am, flying in from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, aboard an Indian Air Force aircraft.
The Prime Minister will head directly to Janata Maidan, where he will preside over the launch of the Subhadra Yojana and other development initiatives. The event is expected to take place between noon and 1 pm. Following the programme, PM Modi is scheduled to depart for New Delhi at 1:25 pm.
This will be the Prime Minister’s first visit to Odisha since June 12, when he attended the swearing-in ceremony of the state’s first BJP-led government under Chief Minister Mohan Majhi.
The Odisha government has timed the launch of Subhadra Yojana, a flagship welfare scheme with a budget allocation exceeding Rs 55,000 crore, to coincide with PM Modi’s birthday. The initiative aims to provide financial assistance to over 1 crore women in the state, aged between 21 and 60 years. Beneficiaries will receive Rs 10,000 annually over five years, with the first tranche of payments scheduled for September 17.
