Bhubaneswar: The court of SDJM, Khurda on January 11 convicted one Sudhira Behera in a case related to illegal possession of leopard skin which was registered by the STF in April, 2021.
Behera was convicted under Sections 379, 411, 120 of the IPC and Section 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for 6 months.
Two persons were arrested by the STF in this case from Bolagarh in Khurda district. The leopard skin was sent for biological examination to Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, the STF said.
“STF is the specialized wing of Odisha Police to curb the organized crime in the State. Wild life crimes remain one of the focus area of STF and STF will continue its drive against the wild life crime and criminals,” the STF stated.
