Mayurbhanj: A swift operation by the enforcement team of Similipal South Wildlife Division thwarted a poaching attempt by a group of five individuals on Tuesday.
According to Deputy Director of Similipal (South Division) Samrat Gouda, “The team, acting on intel from an AI camera capture, intercepted the poachers and arrested two individuals, Rajkishore Naik (29) and Kalicharan Dehuri (23), while three others fled the scene.
The enforcement team seized several items from the spot, including five country-made guns and explosives. Further, a house raid of the accused yielded additional incriminating evidence, such as a Sambar antler, a spotted Deer antler, two snares, one bow and three arrows.”
All the accused poachers belong to Nachipur village, which falls under the Kaptipada police limit. The arrested individuals have been forwarded to the CJM Baripada court for judicial remand. The investigation is ongoing to apprehend the three absconding accused.
