Ganjam: The police on Monday arrested a fake doctor for running a clinic at Singpur Road near Dengausta police station in Odisha’s Ganjam district. He was treating patients without an authorised medical degree.
The accused has been identified as Subhrajit Panda (29) of Sandha village in Dhenkanal district.
What is shocking is that Panda has been treating people posing as the orthopedic and spine surgeon of AIIMS Delhi and Bhubaneswar.
According to reports, the Digapahandi police station inspector-in-charge (IIC) visited Babul Clinic two days ago after receiving a complaint from Simanchala Sahu (36). Panda had treated Simanchala Sahu’s elder mother for wrist joint pain. He prescribed some medicines on his letter pad, but the old woman’s condition continued to deteriorate owing to the alleged wrong diagnosis.
When the police interrogated Panda, the fake medico failed to give satisfactory answers regarding his MBBS degree and registration number. Suspecting foul play, the police detained Panda for further questioning. During the investigation, it was revealed that Panda’s medical degree was fake. Moreover, Panda failed to produce an authorised registration number.
Panda actually made a fake medical degree after completing his Plus-II course. He gathered information from various medical representatives who visited him and used this knowledge to treat people.
Following his arrest on Monday, police conducted simultaneous raids at Panda’s rented house at Sanakhemundi in Ganjam district, his clinic at Ranihat in Cuttack, and his residence in the city.
It is worth mentioning here that Panda was arrested by Chilkagula Police in Telangana in February 2020 for attending a doctors’ meeting by posing as a member of the World Health Organisation (WHO).
