Bhubaneswar: In a significant crackdown, Adava Police on Saturday seized 26 kg of contraband ganja and arrested two drug peddlers in Gajapati district.
The arrests were made following a specific tip-off about the illegal transport of narcotics. The accused have been identified as Vikash Kathuas and Ritu Meena, both residents of Madhya Pradesh.
According to police, the duo was transporting the ganja in a car from the Nalaghat locality with the intention of supplying it in their home state.
Acting on the intelligence, personnel from Adava Police Station intercepted the vehicle near Nalaghat village and recovered the entire consignment from the possession of the two accused. A case has been registered under Adava PS Case No. 194/2025.
Police officials said the investigation is ongoing to trace the source of the contraband and identify others involved in the drug network.
