Puri: Police arrested on Monday three persons in connection with an idol theft case that took place a few days back from Mukteswar temple in the Holy city.
Identified as mastermind Ranjan Kumar Pradhan and his aides Kulamani Pradhan and Jitendra Das, the trio confessed to their crime during interrogation and revealed the identity of two persons whom they had sold the idols. Police have also arrested the recipients.
Speaking to mediapersons, Puri Superintendent of Police Pinak Mishra said “Apart from stealing idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, made of precious stones, the culprits have also decamped with jewellery of the deities from Mukteswar temple located at Sarvodaynagar under Talbania police limits on February 12.”
During investigation, the police questioned the some biker looters and got to know about the persons involved in the idol theft. Based on the information, a police team led by City DSP conducted raids at different places in the district and arrested three persons.
