Bhubaneswar: The police today carried out crime scene reconstruction as part of their probe into the mysterious death of a young woman Surekha Palei of Bharatpur’s Tarini Basti on the outskirts of the city.
The three accused who include Surekha’s alleged boyfriend identified as Biswajit Jena and a minor were taken to the crime spot for scene reconstruction.
Reportedly, they were arrested by the Bharatpur police from Nayagarh.
Police sources revealed that Surekha was allegedly madly in love with Biswajit. But it was a one-sided affair.
On the fateful night, while deceased Surekha, her alleged boyfriend Biswajit, and two others were having a feast at the latter’s house, the two had heated arguments over the issue.
When everyone had fallen asleep after the feast, Surekha reportedly, committed suicide at Biswajit’s house by hanging herself.
The trio later shifted Surekha’s body to her house and escaped to Nayagarh after destroying all evidence from the spot.
Worth mentioning, the body of Surekha Palei, 23, a native of Chapamanika under Brahmagiri police limits in Puri district was found from her rented house at Tarini Basti in Bharatpur locality of the city on Monday last under mysterious circumstances.
Family members of the deceased had alleged that Surekha was murdered.
During the seizure of Surekha’s body by the police, an injury mark was found on her neck. Following which Surekha’s mother had lodged a complaint with police alleging that her daughter was strangulated to death by the youth with whom she was having a feast on Sunday night.
