Bhubaneswar: The State Police Headquarters has issued an advisory pertaining to charging mobile phones at public places – especially at the USB power stations.
Odisha Police posted a tweet in this matter, which read:
“Don’t charge your mobiles at public places like mobile charging station, USB power station etc. Cyber fraudsters are trying to steal your personal information from mobile and installing the malware inside your phone. #StayCyberSafe.”
Cyber expert Prasant Sahu said that hackers plug in their hard drives in these USB ports and can install malwares into our phones. The best solution is carry a power bank or switch off the phone when charging at such places, he advised.
