Police Detain Fake Doctor In Odisha’s Dhenkanal, Another Absconding

Bhubaneswar: Police on Monday detained a person in the Kankadaha block of Odisha’s Dhenkanal on charges of practicing medicine without a degree, while another managed to flee after seeing the approaching police.
The detained accused has been identified as Rakesh Viswan, a native of Kolkata.
According to reports, Rakesh and the other accused have been ‘treating’ the local tribals without possessing any medical degrees for the last five years. The two fake doctors reportedly took advantage of the poor medical facilities in the region.
The accused not only prescribed medicines to the hapless local tribals but also administered injections to them, Kankadaha police officer-in-charge Kalpana Behera told the media.
As the news of the fake doctors spread in the area, a team led by Kalpana Behera went to Rajesh’s r clinic and detained the fake doctor for interrogation. In response to a query by reporters, Rajesh claimed that he has a medical certificate. He claimed that he had obtained his RMP (Registered Medical Practitioner) diploma in West Bengal.
The second fake doctor, identified as Babu, practiced medicine in nearby Rodang village. He has reportedly gone missing since the police raid.
Meanwhile, the police are on the lookout for Babu and started an investigation into the incident.
