Bhubaneswar: Udala police ruled out a gangrape claim by a girl, calling it a ‘false complaint’ that misled cops.
A young woman was allegedly gang-raped, and a complaint was registered in this regard at Udala police station. However, after investigation, the truth came to light that the allegations were false. It was learnt during investigation that that the complaint was fabricated, and the accused were not even present at the scene of the alleged crime, informed the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) at a press meet.
Going by the police complaint, the young woman was allegedly gang-raped by five persons on the Udala-Balesore State Highway on Saturday while she was promised a job. The woman herself filed a complaint at the Udala police station. The police registered a case and detained one person for investigation.
According to the police, one of the woman’s relatives was arrested in connection with a rape case and is currently lodged in a jail. Seeking revenge against the youth who was detained in the latest case, the woman’s relatives conspired and fabricated the allegations against him and four others.
During investigation it was found that Bhagabat Tudu was residing in Telangana during the alleged incident and had no connection to the crime.
