Bhubaneswar: A woman and her daughter were picked up by the police while they threatened to self-immolate themselves in front of the State Assembly today. They have been taken to the Capital police station.
The woman identified as Milanbala Behera from Shingla area of Balasore district alleged police inaction against the in-laws of her and her daughter Subhasmita who have threatened to kill them.
She alleged that despite lodging complaint against eight persons at Shingla police station and airing their grievance at various forums no action has been taken. The culprits are roaming scotfree under political patronage, she added.
Milanbala further alleged that her husband Gaya Prasad Behera who was abducted and attacked by her daughter’s in-laws is undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The woman told the media that after losing all hope for getting justice they decided to set themselves afire in front of the State Assembly.
