Police Recover Huge Cash Stash In Drunk Driver’s Vehicle In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police found a huge amount of cash, amounting to over Rs 4 lakh, inside a car at OMFED square in Chandrasekharpur police station in Bhubaneswar on Saturday night.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Dibyajyoti Nayak, was heavily drunk. He has been detained and is being interrogated, said Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda.

“A vehicle was driving dangerously and about to hit our staff by breaking barricades. When we inspected the vehicle, we found Rs 4.77 lakh cash inside. The driver was also heavily drunk. We have registered a case at Chandrasekharpur police station. The driver is being interrogated regarding the sources of such a huge amount of money,” Panda said.

Checking and blocking were conducted in all police stations and traffic police stations within the city on Saturday night. Suspicious vehicles, persons, articles, and drunken driving were being inspected, the commissioner added.
