Balasore: A youth who was allegedly kidnapped from Chandaneswar on Wednesday has been rescued by the Balasore police within 24 hours. The family of the youth, Sibananda Patra, had lodged a complaint with Talasari police in this connection.

On the direction of SP Sagarika Nath, a team was formed to rescue the victim and nab the abductor who had allegedly demanded Rs 40 lakh for Patra’s release. The victim was rescued from near Station Square in the city, Nath said.

Meanwhile, Dey has been booked under kidnapping charges and further investigation is on. However, the accused has denied the charges and said that Patra had taken money from him and was not returning. “I had not kidnapped him, we were together for the past 24 hours, and spent good time,” he said, while being taken away from the police.
